Foul play is suspected in the death of a woman whose body was found this morning on East Columbia Avenue, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

The victim has been identified as Carrie Daugherty, 24, who had a Knoxville address but was originally from the Chattanooga area, according to KPD spokesman Darrell DeBusk.

Her body was found near a vehicle that parked on the North Knoxville street, DeBusk said.

"We do not know the cause of death; that will take an autopsy," DeBusk said. "We do suspect that foul play was involved" and that it wasn't a random act.
